2016 EMMR Race Car Giveaway

The 1939 Modified Sportsman Race Car originally was a 1936 Chevrolet coupe body with a Chevrolet pickup chassis and equipped with a six cylinder GMC truck motor. The race car engine was later changed to a V-8. Bill Smith purchased the car in 1986 and enjoyed it at Latimore Valley Speedway. In 2014 it was restored to be in the Hershey Fall Meet.

Only 3,000 tickets will be sold. Tickets will be sold at events and at the EMMR or by sending your name, address, phone, cell, and email address to:

P.O. Box 688
Mechanicsburg, PA  17055

Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25. Get your tickets today for a chance to win this beautifully restored race car.

The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing thanks you for your support!!

From the President's corner.....

Now that the summer events are winding down, I want to thank EVERYONE for their help, we couldn't have done it without you. A special "Thank you" to Amy Kelly and everyone that helped make the 2016 Latimore Valley Fair the SUCCESS it was. Please keep in mind your help will be needed in 2017.

We traveled to Bud Garvey's Car Show and although it rained all day, there was a good showing of cars and of course the food is always great.

We had our first baptism in the creek by the track as a neighbor of the museum, Chloe Plesic, asked to be baptized there as it is her favorite fishing hole. You can see the Facebook Post and Pictures or in the next newsletter.

John Marks was in charge at Selinsgrove Speedway and 32 cars showed up and had a great run.  We will be traveling to Lincoln and Bedford speedways this week, Susquehanna on Sept. 10 and Path Valley on Sept. 16th.

The convention honoring Charles Rasp is now history. We also honored Gene Covell and Gene Weber for the efforts they have given to EMMR.

The following officers were re-elected: Nancy Miller - President and John Marks, Bob Shultz, Judy Freels and Stoney Miller on the board of directors.

We had 44 cars at Williams Grove Friday and Carol Weaver had 75 cars at the cruise in at the museum. The car count was down at Latimore Valley Speedway Sat. and Sun. due to the extreme heat but those that chose to come had a great time with no incidents this year (no one knocked down a pole or the fence).

The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame auction is scheduled for Oct. 1st at Williams Grove Speedway presented by Don Robinson. Help will be needed for that event also.

Darwin Doll's Toy and Racing Memorabilia Show is on Sept. 18th and Oct. 2nd is the Car Corral and Flea Market presented by John Marks and Junior Kelly.

The tractor trot scheduled for Oct. 29 has been CANCELED due to lack of interest.

The museum officially closes for the season on Oct 30th but we will still be open on Fridays as weather permits. We will travel to Stan Lobitz  in Hazelton on Nov. 6th with Lynn Paxton and The Holiday Open House is on December 3rd and 4th.

There are still tickets available for the raffle car for which the winning ticket will be drawn December 4th 2016 at 2pm at the museum.

Check the gray schedule as the roundtables continue on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

There is never a dull moment at EMMR!!!

Till next time,
